Lab Introduction

The Big Data Systems & AI Lab (BDAI) at Yonsei University focuses on bridging big data systems and AI/ML technologies to develop efficient, scalable, and intelligent solutions for data-intensive applications. BDAI’s research is built on three core pillars: (i) designing scalable big data systems for machine learning pipelines, (ii) leveraging machine learning to optimize systems for specific workloads, and (iii) exploring advanced hardware—including GPUs, NPUs, DPUs, QPUs, CXL, PIM,  and more—to enhance system performance. The lab collaborates with leading research partners in academia and industry, including Microsoft, Google, Meta, University of Wisconsin-Madison, UCSD, CMU, University of Tokyo, Samsung, SK, Intel, TU Delft, and others. By driving innovation at the intersection of data systems and AI, the lab aims to address critical challenges and deliver impactful solutions.
